Whether it’s performing a structural analysis or designing a complex structure, we are committed to delivering a prompt and consistent result of the highest standard, every time. MIGUEL CHANIN, PE - FOUNDING PRINCIPAL

Miguel Chanin, the founding principal of Chanin Engineering, with over 23 years of design experience. While he currently focuses less on day-to-day operations, his visionary leadership and strategic guidance persist in shaping the company's trajectory, upholding exceptional standards of quality and professionalism. Miguel's impactful contributions to Chanin Engineering serve as a wellspring of inspiration, molding the firm's future pursuits and perpetuating his lasting legacy. He received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

HECTOR RAMIREZ, PE - MANAGING PRINCIPAL

Hector Ramirez serves as the Managing Principal at Chanin Engineering, with over 20 years of structural engineering expertise and licensure in Texas and six other states. Hector leads strategic initiatives and operations, overseeing all facets of the organization, from business and client development to project planning, execution, and delivery. As the lead executive, he assumes responsibility for setting the direction and vision and providing strategic guidance to the leadership team to ensure alignment with the firm's goals and objectives. Hector's strategic decision-making and approach are instrumental in driving growth and excellence within the organization. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has been pivotal in steering the firm's growth and leadership since his arrival in 2010.

OSCAR LOPEZ, PE - PRINCIPAL

Oscar Lopez has over 35 years of experience in structural engineering including planning design, detailing, construction administration, contract administration and quality control supervision. Having worked and studied along Texas, Nevada and the California West Coast, Oscar provides a significant contribution to any project with his diversified engineering background. Oscar has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from University of Texas at El Paso and Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. When he’s not at the office, you can find Oscar teaching students at Texas A&M University McAllen Campus where he is the Professor of Practice for Engineering 111.

JOSE "JC" GARZA - ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL /LEAD PROJECT ENGINEER

JC Garza is a graduate from The University of Texas–Rio Grande Valley with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. JC has been with Chanin Engineering since 2016 where he handles the various aspects of a project including structural analysis, detailing, and project coordination; all under the direct supervision of the Professional Engineers on staff.

CRISTIAN GUAJARDO, PE -  ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL / LEAD PROJECT ENGINEER

Cristian Guajardo is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Texas and Colorado, with nearly a decade of design experience. Since joining our organization in 2020, he has swiftly ascended the ranks, now holds a key leadership position, and is an integral part of the company. His expertise lies in designing various structural systems, including conventional steel, concrete, masonry, pre-engineered buildings, and rough carpentry construction. Additionally, he is a Texas Department of Insurance Qualified Windstorm Inspector. Cristian is responsible for client coordination and overseeing all project facets, from schematic design to construction administration. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University Kingsville and furthered his education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley.



RODOLFO MARTINEZ, EIT -  LEAD PROJECT ENGINEER

Rodolfo Martinez is a graduate from Tuxtepec Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. At Chanin Engineering, Rodolfo handles various aspects of a project including client coordination, structural analysis, detailing, and project coordination.

MARIO GUAJARDO JR - ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL / SENIOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Mario Guajardo Jr is a project manager with over 21 years of combined experience in the construction and design industries. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas Pan American and has been with Chanin Engineering since 2008 where he provides Construction Administration for our projects including submittal reviews and site visits.

SANDRA VALDEZ - GRADUATE ENGINEER

Sandra Valdez is a graduate from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Sandra assists with all aspects of project design including structural analysis, detailing, and project coordination; all under the direct supervision of the Professional Engineers on staff.

EDUARDO CID - PROJECT ENGINEER

Eduardo Cid graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tuxtepec Institute of Technology. Eduardo joined Chanin in 2022 where he assists with all aspects of project design including structural analysis, detailing, and project coordination; all under the direct supervision of the Professional Engineers on staff.

JOE PEREZ -  TECHNICIAN T-III

Joe Perez is a team member of our production staff. He prepares engineering project drawings from rough sketches or general engineering and design information provided by the Structural Design Team. Joe has been a valued team member of Chanin Engineering for over 10 years.

LUIS REYNA - TECHNICIAN T-III

Luis Reyna is a team member of our production staff. He prepares engineering project drawings from rough sketches or general engineering and design information provided by the Structural Design Team. Luis has been a valued team member of Chanin Engineering for over 10 years.

VACILIO DIAZ - TECHNICIAN T-III

Vacilio Diaz is a team member of our production staff. His role is to prepare engineering project drawings from rough sketches or general engineering and design information provided by the Structural Design Team.

ERNESTO CARREON -  TECHNICIAN T-I

Ernesto Carreon is a team member of our production staff. He prepares engineering project drawings from rough sketches or general engineering and design information provided by the Structural Design Team.

2017 ENGINEERING FIRM OF THE YEAR

On January 19, 2018 Chanin Engineering was awarded the 2017 Engineering Firm of the Year by the Rio Grande Valley Chapter Associated General Contractors.
